In addition to these pursuits, Dr. Norman has been the chair and co-chair of Disaster Mental Health (DMH) for the American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter.  In addition to the coordinating the Red Cross Mental health team, he coordinated disaster mental health services with a broad range of community mental health agencies.  He served as the Mental Health lead for many disasters including the Santana High School Shooting, 2003 Wildfire, 2007 Wildfire, Ventura Mudslide, and many other tragedies.  Dr. Norman has taught DMH to many national organizations and is a national Disaster Mental Health instructor for the Red Cross.  Additionally, he is on the National Red Cross’s Critical Response Team.  He has been deployed to national disasters and has participated in numerous disasters throughout San Diego.  He has been interviewed on the NBC Today Show, Court TV, CNN, PBS News Hour, KOGO Radio, San Diego Union Tribune, and other media outlets.
